Day 2 of "30 Day Blog Challenge"

DAY 2- THE MEANING BEHIND YOUR BLOG NAME

Well honestly when I started this blog about 3-4 years ago, I googled quotes to find one that meant something to me. I found this one by Maya Angelou and I thought it fit really well- "This is my life, it is my one time to be me." Maya Angelou is an American author and poet, her works started in the 60's and have continued to make an impression on people today. I tend to think of myself as one who has all intentions of just putting myself out there, so you can choose to take me or leave me, but I am who I am. I like the idea of being able to live my life, embracing that each moment is its own, different from the one before and the one after. It really makes you appreciate what is handed to you, and also to make the choices that you feel are going to better you as a person, and better the world around you.

Day 1 of the Blogging 30 day Challenge!

OK so I guess I will give this a try. I read my friend's blog, and she is doing a 30 day challenge. There is a list at the bottom of this post, of everything that you will blog about for 30 days. This is to boost your blog activity. Let's hope it helps!!

DAY 1: RECENT PICTURE OF YOU AND 15 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF

This was the most recent picture I could find of myself. It's from when we went to the zoo a few weeks ago. I guess that can transition me into fact # 1....

1. I am usually the one behind the camera (because my son is so cute and my husband is handsome so why wouldn't I take pictures of them?) so there are not a whole lot of pictures of me that I can think of.

2. I am originally from a suburban city called Issaquah in Washington state. We moved there when I was little and I lived there until I was 18.

3. My parents moved to Oregon when I was 18, so I moved into my own apartment the same day that I graduated high school.

4. I taught Montessori preschool for 5 years. I truly believe this to be my calling. I miss it pretty much every day. Working with preschoolers is the coolest thing ever!

5. My husband went to dive school in 2005, so in 2006 I packed my bags and moved out of my comfort zone in WA to be with him in the dirty south- Lafayette, LA. Been here almost 5 years now.

6. I have always owned a pet at some point in my life. The longest I went without a pet was from August to November in 2006 when I first moved from WA, I gave my cats to my parents and couldn't handle being along all the time so we got a dog.

7. My favorite type of gum is watermelon. But sometimes I will chew peppermint.

8. I hate to wear shoes- my husband calls me a hippie because my feet are always filthy from being barefoot all the time.

9. My biggest pet peeve is small, trimmed facial hairs in the bathroom. There is something about them that makes them IMPOSSIBLE to clean up. I really don't mind cleaning the bathroom- until someone trims their beard and forgets to clean up the hairs. Then I will lose it.

10. I love to cook and bake. I am not excellent at it- or maybe I just feel that way because I never feel like I know what I am doing. But there is something calming about creating good food. Of course, when it comes out terribly I am not very relaxed ; )

11. I spent the last year at home with my son after he was born, and I discovered that I am definitely one of "those people" who never truly has to have a real job in order to be happy. I could easily be a stay at home mom for the rest of my life.

12. I have been a part of an awesome online community of Commercial Diver Wives (aka DW's) since 2005 and they are quite possibly some of the coolest people I have ever conversed with. Honestly though, since my hubby quit diving, sometimes I feel guilty about still being a part of the group- like I don't really belong there anymore.

13. I honestly do love Cajun food and music. I will miss it if we ever move away from here.

14. My absolute favorite type of food is Mexican. And my favorite type of sweets is ice cream, hands down.

15. I think my husband and son are pretty much the most awesome people in the universe and I thank God every day for blessing them into my life.

There ya go!! Stay tuned for the next post. Here is a list of all of the posts for the 30 day challange. No promises that I will post every single day, but I will try to eventually make it through all 30 posts!!
