We are still living in Kent with Mike's cousin Tammy and her family. They added one to their family last April, so we live with Tammy, Steve, Gabriel (3 yrs old) and Westley (8 months). Last time I wrote, I was planning on working for a Montessori in Issaquah. Well, a few days before school started I got a different offer- to work in my own classroom (as opposed to associate teaching under another trained Montessori teacher) for the sister school in Kirkland. I decided to take the offer and I've been working there for a year and a half now. I really enjoy it :)
Mike is still working for BNSF and recently took on a promotion to begin training as a Yardmaster. Basically it's more of a manager type position- instead of actually putting trains together he tells people how to do it. He's enjoying the change of pace, and hopefully soon we will see the difference in income.
Sean is almost 4 years old now, we are in the midst of planning his birthday party for the end of January. He loves going to the Montessori school, he's learned so much and has made so many friends! He reads books now (and not just Bob books!), he can almost write letters legibly, he's learning about Teens and Tens in school, and he just got a watch from Santa that he is using often throughout the day to tell us what time it is (though I don't think he quite comprehends what it means yet). At home, Sean and Gabriel are best friends and it's nice having someone he can play with who just lives upstairs.
It's funny to me when I look back at my blog, because I only posted twice in 2012 (once in April and once in August) but I posted often in 2010 and 2011. Only a few posts ago I was writing about potty training, and now we're way past that stage! In fact, we will be expecting to start that baby journey all over again, hence my picking up the blog entries after so long. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant with baby number two! Our estimated due date is June 14th, 2014 and we're pretty excited :) I was feeling pretty guilty that I'd posted about 10 times by now with my first pregnancy, and this time I haven't blogged at all!
So here you go, update on baby #2:
Babycenter.com says.... 16 weeks- Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
And here's a picture of me on Christmas at 15.5 weeks
So our next appointment is January 7th, and then I'll have an ultrasound scheduled for the end of January, and hopefully we will find out the gender! I am really hoping for a girl, but Mike and I are both pretty sure it's a boy. We have not yet settled on a name, but we are thinking Madison or Madelyn if it's a girl and Max if it's a boy.
Cross your fingers that I keep up with the updates- it took me about 5 days to finish this entry, I'm hoping to be more efficient next time ;)
